ABOUT US
NÍPTO - bringing traditional soap making to our modern world.
I make cold processed natural soaps and bath bombs. I use extra virgin olive oil, sustainable coconut oil, shea butter and essential oils – plus botanicals that I grow myself. I hope you give my products a try, trust me – your skin will love them!
NÍPTO - νίπτω
Handmade and natural my products use sustainable, ethically sourced often local ingredients. I do not test on animals and reuse and recycle packaging where possible.
These handmade all natural soaps and bath bombs will be gentle and kind to your skin, giving you the benefits of oils and butters without stripping the skins natural oil… Oh, and you get the ‘squeak of clean’ too!
After a career in IT, I wanted to be more creative – so following a redundancy I took some time to ‘go make stuff’. Soap was one of the things I had always wanted to try, and I became more than a little bit hooked… Fast forward a couple of years and here we are!
I started making soap, various potions, bottle lamps and up-cycling furniture, I have since refined the craft somewhat and focus on the soap and bath bomb side, whilst taking on commissions for the furniture/lamps. I can be found at local markets and craft fairs (the inside ones are fabulous!) throughout the year talking about oils and flowers mostly…
The Team
NÍPTO is technically just me – but no woman is an Island, and whilst the name might have been inspired by my beloved Greece, my grounding comes from much closer to home, the long suffering Neil, Ron and of course Nelson & Glyka (meaning sweetie or little cake, the diva comes from Glossa…)

Soapy Questions
This ancient traditional method is basically when Lye is mixed with oils and water. The chemical process called saponification happens, changing the chemical makeup of the raw ingredients and resulting in soap.
The actual making takes an hour or so, however my soap then gets at least 1 ‘duvet’ day wrapped in some towels to allow ‘gel’ phase, this really helps the texture. After this I unmould, cut and stamp into bars and let them relax for 4 – 6 weeks to cure, it is this time which allows the bars to harden and dry.
